Wearing Braces

Drs. Bateman, Neubauer, and Pendse recommend that you brush 3 times a day when you have braces. Braces tend to work better if you avoid certain foods because they can break the wires and brackets. You should avoid any foods that are sticky, hard/crunchy or chewy. Examples of these types of food are:
- Chewing gum
- Nuts and Popcorn
- Gummi bears, chewy and hard candy
- Ice
- Hard pretzels
- Pizza crust
- Ribs
- Corn on the cob
- Apples, raw vegetables like carrots
- Bagels
However, if you have Invisalign braces, you can eat any food you would like. Invisalign trays are removed during eating so you can eat most anything! For more information, please call our office at 704-541-5059.
