How Can I Have Tooth Decay if it Doesn’t Hurt

When decay forms on the tooth, it does not go away by itself. Decay destroys the tooth enamel.  If your decay reaches the pulp of the tooth, it will hurt.  If it gets to that stage, you will probably need a root canal to relieve the pain and take out the infection caused by tooth decay.  Treating a tooth with decay before it hurts is the wisest thing to do.
