Root canal therapy is sometimes needed to relieve a toothache or if the tooth has had trauma such as an accident. The procedure is actually not painful as it is sometimes reported. You are numb and the dentist takes out the nerves and infection within the tooth. Basically all living material is removed. After the procedure, typically a crown and a foundation are placed on the tooth to restore it to proper use. Sometimes front teeth only need internal bleaching or a filling depending on what condition the tooth is in.
